Harper Henry

Artist's Biography

Harper Henry is a contemporary western artist who lives and works from her studio in the heart of the Sonoran Desert in Arizona. Known for her vibrant abstract realism and bold brush work, she has been painting images of horses and the American West for over twenty-five years. Born in Idaho, she’s always had and undying love for the west.

After a long career as an Art Director in the world of commercial advertising; she is overjoyed to finally dedicate herself to painting. An endeavor she’s dreamed of as long as she can remember. Harper has a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Illustration from Paier College of Art. Her work resides in private collections throughout the country and in Canada.

She attributes her unique painting approach to her interest in a fusion of two contradictory art styles. “With each new piece, I want to push my artistic boundaries. I have a deep appreciation for the traditional, realistic painting styles of the great masters, however I longed to create a painting style that felt more alive. Something unexpected and intriguing. So, I began my journey into exploring a relationship between realism and abstraction.”
